The 2012 Han Sheng Music Association Concert titled “2012 Ode to Spring (春韵音乐会)” will be held at Orvis Auditorium, Dept. of Music, UHM, Sunday March 11th, 2012 at 4 PM.
With the mission of celebrating Chinese choral music and China’s musical heritage, the Han Sheng Music Association (汉声合唱团) is a choral group specializing in Chinese choral music. It was founded by a group of enthusiasts for Chinese choral works in Honolulu, in the early 1970s. The group’s repertoire includes traditional and contemporary Chinese songs sung in several regional dialects.
Currently, the Association is under the directorship of Prof. Frederick Lau of the University of Hawaii at Manoa Music Department. The group performed in numerous Chinese and non-Chinese community functions and festivals. In recent years, Han Sheng has presented concerts annually at the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Orvis Auditorium.
